VINYL SERIES
Inspired by Harold Edgerton's 'Stroboscopic Photography' I wanted to try and explore if it was possible to turn the still images into a moving image and film.
After experimenting with a variety of different techniques the effect came together but required such a high level of processing power it was impossible to maintain for clips of any considerable length.
I approached Atomic London and Pete Mould who agreed to a meeting to discuss the technique he used for the Royal Opera House 'Feel Something New' campaign.
The first stage of the project is broken up into three parts: the vinyl series - where I dropped paint on a vinyl then recorded the blending of the colours as the effect tracked the motion, the dancer series - where I attempted to 'capture the essence' of a single dance move with the goal of capturing it in a single image and the Pot series where I filmed a pot smashing and mapped the motion of each individual pot fragment as it exploded.
